<description>My comrades and I had heard from a co-worker how much fun they had had on this tour of the winery’s in the treasure valley. We were looking for an outing to put a cap on the summer, and we found it. After a few back and forth email arrangements the usual suspects were scheduled, and prepared to sample some wine.

Not being much of a wine drinker, I had no idea what to expect. The day began with George picking us up one by one. By the time we reached our first destination it was like we had known George for years. He very much made us all feel at ease. No question was too simple to answer….well except maybe the repeated question of how to get the vans doors to open and close. George is very much a people person, professional and accommodating and my favorite, adaptable, but enough about George.

We started with Mr. Fujishin, who schooled us in colors, flavors, ingredients and smells. We also tasted some great fruit, and began our individual wine bottle collections. We went from Fujishin’s to the Orchard House, where we had some great service, delicious food, and some extremely funny banter. We opened our first bottle of wine; Soft Red from Ste Chappell. The festivities ensued.

As we went from Ste. Chappell to Bitner’s to Koenig, we learned more about wine making, growers and the wine makers. We learned what goes well with desserts vs. steak. We learned a little bit about the bubbly stuff as well; my sis’s favorite. George even gave us the dirt on the dirt underneath these beautiful vineyards. We drank wine, ate food, enjoyed time with friends and saw some gorgeous parts of our own private Idaho. It was, I can’t say enough, a spectacular day. I’d like to thank all of the wineries we attended, the Orchard House and George for the good time on the “Lying to your Mother Wine Tour.”

If you’re looking for something to do on a weekend afternoon with some friends or family. I highly recommend giving this a shot, or should I say a sip.
